Night of the Museums in the Naval Museum

For the third consecutive year the Naval Museum in Varna, branch of the National Museum of Military History, will participate in the Night of the Museums, opening doors with free admission on May 17th from 18:00 to 24:00.

The program will start at 18:00 with one of the evening attractions – the demonstration of firing with a medieval 1-pounder ship cannon. It is part of the “arsenal”of “Torpedo boat ″Drazki″” Club and it is fully their craftsmanship.

At 18:30 will start concert of the Representative Wind Instruments Naval Orchestra, conducted by Captain III rank Miroslav Trifonov. The orchestra will present selected musical pieces from its repertoire.

In the “Sailors School” between 18:00 and 21:00 , visitors will have the opportunity to learn how to make knots and how to throw a cordage. And the youngest of them will make their first steps in sailoring with marine puzzles.

In the temporary exhibitions hall at 22:00 will start film show of documentary “Vaptsarov. Five stories of one shooting down”, director Kostadin Bonev. Based on authentic documentary testimony and archival film sequences, the film presents exciting story of such iconic personality of Bulgarian twentieth century, as Nikola Vaptsarov. Through a new perspective on the issues the film offers viewers a different interpretation of the conflict between the poetic talent and personality of Vaptzarov – and political reality. This is first public presentation of this film in Varna. Available to visitors until midnight will be museum’s permanent exhibition and the newest temporary exhibitions “Warriors saints” and “Training sailing boats of Bulgaria 1879 – 2014”.

20:00 – 21:30 Concert featuring Inna Ivanova, the Representative ensemble of the Land Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Professional dance formation “Master of the Dance”

The submerged Russian destroyer “Lieutenant Pushchin” was found in Bulgarian waters

The museum opened its outdoor exposition
